Patientell vs Birdeye (2026)
Full disclosure: we make Patientell, so yes, we're biased. Birdeye is the bigger, broader product. If you need everything a marketing team would want, it's hard to beat. If you need more and better Google reviews, that's a much narrower job, and it's the only one we do.
TL;DR
Birdeye monitors and manages your reputation across Google, Healthgrades, Yelp, Facebook and more, plus listings, surveys and competitor benchmarking. It's built for marketing teams and big groups. Patientell is built to get more patients to leave detailed Google reviews, with no contract.
- Pick Birdeye if: Healthgrades, Yelp and your listings matter, or you're a large group with a marketing team
- Pick Patientell if: Google reviews are what move patients in your area and you want more of them, with more detail
- Watch out for: annual contracts and onboarding fees with Birdeye, per third-party reports

Where Birdeye is better
- Breadth. It watches reviews on dozens of sites, including Healthgrades and Yelp. We're built around Google.
- Listings. Birdeye keeps your name, address, hours and phone consistent across directories. We don't do listings.
- Enterprise reporting. Sentiment, competitor benchmarking, and roll-ups for big groups. If you have a marketing director, they'll like Birdeye's dashboards.
- Integrations beyond your PMS. Both of us connect to the major dental systems, but Birdeye also plugs into thousands of other business apps. If your marketing stack is complicated, that matters.
- Compliance paperwork. Birdeye markets HIPAA-compliant plans. Patientell is designed not to handle protected health information, so if your compliance team needs a vendor that signs a BAA, ask us first or go with a vendor that does.
Where Patientell is better
- Focus. Getting a patient to finish a detailed Google review is our whole product, built on a patent-pending flow.
- No contract, no setup fee. Birdeye is typically sold on 12-month agreements with onboarding fees, per third-party reports.
- Simplicity. A single practice or a small group doesn't need 20-report dashboards. You need more reviews.
- Review depth. In the one practice we've published, switching to Patientell from a large review vendor meant 2.1× more reviews per month, reviews 2–10× longer, and 12× more mentions of staff by name. That's one practice, not a study, and we don't name the previous vendor, so don't read it as a benchmark against anyone on this page. See the data.
Which reviews actually matter for a dentist?
For most practices, Google. It's where patients search "dentist near me" and it's what shows up in the map results. Healthgrades and Yelp matter in some markets and for some specialties. Search your own practice and three competitors and see which sites show up on the first page. If it's only Google, you don't need to pay for twenty sites.
What we'd do today
- Google your practice name and "dentist near me." Write down every review site on page one.
- If Healthgrades, Yelp or listings cleanup are on that list, demo Birdeye.
- If it's Google, and your problem is volume and detail, ask us for a demo.
Questions
Is Birdeye worth it for a single dental office?
Sometimes. If you'd use listings, surveys and multi-site monitoring, yes. If you only want more Google reviews, you'll pay for a lot you won't use, usually on an annual contract.
Does Patientell collect Healthgrades or Yelp reviews?
No. Patientell is built around Google reviews. If other sites matter in your market, Birdeye or Swell cover more of them.
Does Patientell work with my practice management system?
Very likely. Patientell connects to Dentrix through a direct on-prem agent, Open Dental through its API, and Oryx through a cloud report sync. We also support Eaglesoft, Dentrix Ascend, Dentrix Enterprise, Denticon, Curve Hero, eClinicalWorks and many more. If your system isn't listed, ask us. Where there's no integration, the QR flow at checkout works on any system.
Can we only send review requests to happy patients?
No, and you shouldn't want to. Google's review policy says businesses must not selectively ask happy customers for reviews (called review gating), and the FTC's 2024 rule on consumer reviews cracks down on suppressing negative ones. Ask every patient. Any vendor that offers to filter unhappy patients away from Google is putting your profile at risk.
Where do Patientell's numbers come from?
One real dental practice that switched to Patientell from a large review vendor: 2.1× more reviews per month, reviews 2–10× longer, 12× more staff mentions, and 82% fewer one-star reviews year over year. It's one practice, not a controlled study, and we don't name the previous vendor. See the full data.

We checked prices and features for every product here in October 2026. Most of these vendors don't publish prices, so ranges come from third-party reports. This stuff changes constantly, so confirm with each vendor before you sign anything. And we're not your lawyer or compliance officer.
