The best review software for orthodontists (2026)
Full disclosure: we make Patientell, so yes, we're biased. Ortho is a case where we're not automatically the right pick, and we'll say why. Many ortho offices run ortho-specific practice management systems. Our published integrations cover the major general dental systems, so check yours before anything else.
TL;DR
Orthodontics breaks the usual "ask after every visit" rule. Patients come in monthly for two years, and the best moment to ask is a milestone, especially debond day. You want a tool that connects to your ortho PMS so asks can be timed, or a QR your team hands out on debond day.
- Best for ortho offices that want phones and texting too: Weave
- Best reviews-first tool for ortho groups: Swell
- Best for detailed debond-day reviews: Patientell (ours)
- Best free option: your Google review link

Why ortho is different
- Timing. Asking after every adjustment annoys people. Ask at milestones: the start, the halfway point, and above all debond day.
- Two audiences. The teen is the patient, the parent is the customer. Parents write the reviews prospective parents read.
- Different software. Most ortho offices use ortho-specific practice management systems, not general dental ones. Integration lists matter.
1. Weave
- Best for
- ortho offices that want phones, texting and reviews in one place
- Price
- Quote. Third-party reports put most dental offices around $250–$450/mo per location, plus a setup fee.
- Connects to
- Many dental and specialty PMSs. Confirm yours.
Weave serves a lot of specialty offices and lists integrations with many dental and specialty systems. If you want phones, texting, reminders and review requests in one place, it's the broadest option. Confirm your ortho PMS is supported before you sign.
2. Swell
- Best for
- multi-location ortho groups that want a reviews-first tool
- Price
- Per location. Dental association offers have run $179–$249/mo, often with 30 days free.
- Connects to
- PMS/EHR integration included. Confirm your ortho system.
Swell is reviews-first, with surveys and roll-ups by location. Its integration is included in every plan. Ask specifically about your ortho PMS and whether you can trigger asks on milestones instead of every visit.
3. PatientellOurs
- Best for
- ortho offices that want detailed debond-day reviews
- Price
- Quote. No contracts, no setup fees.
- Connects to
- Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, Oryx and many more. Ask about ortho-specific systems.
This is ours. On debond day, the patient and parent are as happy as they'll ever be. Our patent-pending flow is built to get a detailed review out of that moment, whether it comes from an automated text or a QR your team hands them.
If your office runs a general dental system like Dentrix, Open Dental or Eaglesoft, texts go out automatically. If you're on an ortho-specific system, ask us whether it's covered before you assume. If it isn't, the QR flow still works, but Weave or Swell may automate more for you.
4. Your free Google review link
- Best for
- small ortho offices that run a tight debond-day routine
- Price
- Free
- Effort
- All on your team.
Every Google Business Profile has a free review link and QR code. Print it on a card, put it at checkout, and have the front desk ask every patient before they leave. It costs nothing and it works better than most people expect, as long as your team actually asks.
The problem is consistency. On a busy Monday nobody asks, there's no follow-up text, and you have no idea who was asked and who wasn't.
Our pick
Check your ortho PMS against all three integration lists first. If more than one supports it and review depth is the goal, try us. If only Weave or Swell supports it, start there. Whatever tool you use, build a debond-day ritual: photo, celebration, and a review ask while the parent is in the room.
What we'd do today
- Write down your ortho practice management system and check it against each vendor's integration list.
- Add a review ask to your debond-day checklist, aimed at the parent.
- Turn off any setting that asks for a review after every adjustment visit.
Questions
Should we ask the teen or the parent for a review?
The parent. They made the decision, they paid, and prospective parents are the ones reading reviews.
Can we only send review requests to happy patients?
No, and you shouldn't want to. Google's review policy says businesses must not selectively ask happy customers for reviews (called review gating), and the FTC's 2024 rule on consumer reviews cracks down on suppressing negative ones. Ask every patient. Any vendor that offers to filter unhappy patients away from Google is putting your profile at risk.
Is it safe to reply to patient reviews?
Yes, but never confirm that the reviewer is a patient or mention their treatment, even if they did first. HHS has fined dental practices for revealing patient information in review replies. Keep it to "Thanks for the kind words, we're glad you had a good experience." Whatever AI reply tool you use, including ours, have a human read every draft before it posts.
Does Patientell work with my practice management system?
Very likely. Patientell connects to Dentrix through a direct on-prem agent, Open Dental through its API, and Oryx through a cloud report sync. We also support Eaglesoft, Dentrix Ascend, Dentrix Enterprise, Denticon, Curve Hero, eClinicalWorks and many more. If your system isn't listed, ask us. Where there's no integration, the QR flow at checkout works on any system.

We checked prices and features for every product here in October 2026. Most of these vendors don't publish prices, so ranges come from third-party reports. This stuff changes constantly, so confirm with each vendor before you sign anything. And we're not your lawyer or compliance officer.
