The best dental review software on a budget (2026)
Full disclosure: we make Patientell, so yes, we're biased. The most expensive tools in this category bundle a lot of features you may not need. If what you want is more Google reviews, here's how to get them without overpaying, starting at $0.
TL;DR
Start free with your Google review link. If you need automation, buy a reviews-focused tool, not an all-in-one, unless the all-in-one is replacing bills you already pay. Watch for the costs that aren't on the website: setup fees, annual contracts, auto-renewals and add-ons.
- Best free option: your Google review link
- Best low-cost paid option with a free trial: Swell
- Best no-contract option: Patientell (ours)
- Only worth it if it replaces other bills: Weave
The picks at a glance
| Tool | Best for | Price | Review sites |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your free Google review link | Spending nothing | Free | |
| Swell | Low-cost dental automation | ~$179–$249/mo per location | Google, Facebook, Healthgrades and more |
| Patientell (ours) | No contract, no setup fee | Quote, no contract | |
| Weave | When it replaces your phone bill too | ~$250–$450/mo + setup | Google, Facebook |
The costs that aren't on the website
- Setup and onboarding fees. Often hundreds of dollars, sometimes per location.
- Annual contracts that auto-renew. Miss the notice window and you're in for another year.
- Add-ons. Review response tools, extra texts, extra phone numbers, AI features.
- Renewal increases. Some contracts allow price increases at renewal.
When you get a quote, ask for the total first-year cost in writing, including every fee. Compare that number, not the monthly price.
1. Your free Google review link
- Best for
- spending nothing and seeing how far your team gets
- Price
- Free
- Effort
- All on your team.
Every Google Business Profile has a free review link and QR code. Print it on a card, put it at checkout, and have the front desk ask every patient before they leave. It costs nothing and it works better than most people expect, as long as your team actually asks.
The problem is consistency. On a busy Monday nobody asks, there's no follow-up text, and you have no idea who was asked and who wasn't.
2. Swell
- Best for
- the lowest-cost dental-specific automation, with a free month
- Price
- Per location. Dental association offers have run $179–$249/mo, often with 30 days free.
- Connects to
- PMS/EHR integration included in every plan.
Swell's dental association offers have run $179–$249/month per location, often with 30 days free, with PMS integration, unlimited users and a monthly text allowance included. Among paid dental review tools, that's toward the low end.
3. PatientellOurs
- Best for
- offices that want to avoid contracts and setup fees
- Price
- Quote. No contracts, no setup fees.
- Connects to
- Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend, Dentrix Enterprise, Open Dental, Oryx, Eaglesoft, Denticon, Curve Hero, eClinicalWorks and many more.
This is ours. No contract, no setup fee, live in under 24 hours. If it doesn't move your review numbers, you stop paying.
We don't publish pricing, which is annoying when you're on a budget, so ask us for a number.
4. Weave
- Best for
- offices that would cancel their phone system and other tools to switch
- Price
- Quote. Third-party reports put most dental offices around $250–$450/mo per location, plus a setup fee.
- Connects to
- Dentrix (including Ascend and Enterprise), Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Denticon, Curve, SoftDent and more.
Weave isn't cheap, but if it replaces your phone bill, texting tool and forms tool, the total can come out lower. Do that math honestly. If you'd only use the review requests, skip it.
What we'd skip on a budget
Podium and Birdeye are both good products, but at $299–$599/month per location on annual terms, they only make sense on a budget if you'd use their inbox, payments or listings every day.
Our pick
One month on the free link. Then, if you need automation: try us with no contract, or Swell with a free month. Either way, get the first-year total in writing.
What we'd do today
- Check whether a tool you already pay for, like Weave or Lighthouse 360, includes review requests nobody turned on.
- Set up the free Google review link and QR this week.
- When you get quotes, ask for the total first-year cost in writing, including setup, add-ons and contract length.
Questions
Is there free dental review software?
Your Google Business Profile's review link and QR code are free. Fully automated review texting tied to your PMS generally isn't.
Why don't these vendors publish prices?
Most price by location count and features, and many negotiate. That includes us. Ask every vendor for a written first-year total.
Can we only send review requests to happy patients?
No, and you shouldn't want to. Google's review policy says businesses must not selectively ask happy customers for reviews (called review gating), and the FTC's 2024 rule on consumer reviews cracks down on suppressing negative ones. Ask every patient. Any vendor that offers to filter unhappy patients away from Google is putting your profile at risk.
Does Patientell work with my practice management system?
Very likely. Patientell connects to Dentrix through a direct on-prem agent, Open Dental through its API, and Oryx through a cloud report sync. We also support Eaglesoft, Dentrix Ascend, Dentrix Enterprise, Denticon, Curve Hero, eClinicalWorks and many more. If your system isn't listed, ask us. Where there's no integration, the QR flow at checkout works on any system.
Try Patientell
Patent-pending review system for dental practices. Works with Dentrix, Open Dental, Oryx, Eaglesoft and many more. No contracts, no setup fees, live in under 24 hours.
We checked prices and features for every product here in October 2026. Most of these vendors don't publish prices, so ranges come from third-party reports. This stuff changes constantly, so confirm with each vendor before you sign anything. And we're not your lawyer or compliance officer.
